Frequently Asked
Questions
Q - How do set up the bike trainer
stand to work with the Hill Simulator?
A – You unscrew the four leveler feet from the base of
the bike trainer and screw them into the leveler columns supplied
with the Hill Simulator. Next, screw the other end of the leveler
columns into the base of the bike trainer and level the stand
with the leveler feet so it does not rock if the floor is uneven.
You then place the bike’s front tire into the Hill
Simulator’s tire channel. If you have a regular trainer
you plug the cable from the optional switch module into the
back panel of the Hill Simulator, route it up to a convenient
handle or aero bar location and adhere the Velcro straps.
If
the bike slides forward during use place one rubber pad between
the floor and the leveler block.
Q - How do you connect a Hill Simulator
to a Computrainer?
A - Plug the cable that previously came from the Computer right
to Back Panel of the Hill Simulator. Plug one end of the supplied
connector cable into the handlebar controller and the other
end of it to the jack on the Hill Simulator.
Q – I am in the Clydesdale
division will it lift my weight?
A- The Hill Simulator motor/linear bearing system is rated
at to 300 lbs but when the Hill Simulator lifts the bike about
half of your weight is on the rear wheel so it will operate
with with athletes even heavier than that. It has been extensively
tested under
real world conditions with athletes heavy to light, fast to
slow.
Q – Can I shift gears and
get out of the saddle like real riding?
A – Yes, the unit is quite stable as long as the front
wheel is roughly centered on the tire channel. The unit was
designed to operate so you can shift gears and get out of
the saddle as you would on an actual hill.
Q – How does it work with
the optional switch module and a fluid or mag trainer?
A – You place the front tire into the tire channel and
adhere the switch module to a convenient location on your handle
or aero bars with the attached Velcro strips. When you ride
you press the left button to incline and the right button to
decline.
Q- Will the Hill Simulator affect
the Computrainer’s operation?
A- No, the Hill Simulator has no affect on the Computrainer’s
operation at all. While the Computrainer is operating just as
it did before, the Hill Simulator is reading the Computrainer’s
electronic signals which inclines or declines the front wheel
as often as the Computriner program changes.
